Ripping me off
I have not lived in my home since Nov 11th. Everything in the home is unplugged except the router (which isn't being used) and the refrigerator. To prevent pipes freezing, I have the thermometer set at 62. Everything else is turned off including the stove, water (from the well), and water heater.
Jackson charged me $136 for period of 11/9-12/11. When I called, they say it's correct but if I want, they can send someone to my home to double check it, even though it's correct, but I will have to pay them another $35.
Last month they charged me $89 which I knew was wrong but I paid it. I was living there during that cycle but kept the heat at 65-68.
It's bad enough not having an income and having to move in with a relative who lives out of town, but it's worse getting ripped off and not being able to do anything about it.
I've never been late on my bill and they charge whatever they want every month. I've never taken the time to complain before, but this time I plan to take it further. It's just not right.

Cut Power Off before 45 days due
I have a 3 month old baby, my girlfriend went on maternity leave at 5 months pregnant, she was fainting at work. They cut my power off today and I called them and it was $130 fee to restore power remotely, I tried explaining my situation and the best they could do was $70 reconnection fee plus the bill and the other $60 on my next bill.
I explained to her that I’m in a limited budget and that I have a 3 month old baby, the rep hung up on me. I called back and after a lengthy hold time I got the same rep. She repeated the same thing over and over. I paid my bill plus $70 more with the rest added to my next bill.
My lights were back in in less than 5 minutes. What a ripoff to charge people $130 to remotely turn your lights back on. Jackson Electric is a ripoff. I’ve never had my lights off before.
I fell behind cause I have a new baby. No compassion from them
Customer Service/Bill
I went to pay my moms bill, I had the bill with me, circled the problem I wanted to ask question about. I asked, or tried but was actually cut off with the explanation (or rather practiced speech it felt like) the lady did not look at what I was asking about only went on to say her speech of every ones bill has doubled because of the rates, I again said I circled what I would like you to look into on my moms bill and was once again interrupted with the same words about the bill, she took the bill and money and stapled the receipt to the bill on which I had circled without once looking at it or looking it up to see about.
The rates may have been the explanation but without checking how would that be known ?
When an elderly person lives on a certain amount of money and then pays out thousands within a year to JEMC,at the very least respect and time should be made when there are concerns.
